Dayna’s Pre-Trib Rapture Post #3

My dear friends on Facebook, I am writing this 3rd post to you from quarantine to continue my case for the Pre-Tribulation Rapture of the Church.

In my two previous posts (which I will link at the bottom) I’ve talked about the Emergent Church, Calvinism, a little of my story, and Dispensationalism. In Post #2 I ended with a short study on food in the Bible which demonstrated how God has different instructions for man during different time periods.

In this post I’d like to talk to you about God’s promise to Abraham, the Nation of Israel, Christ’s earthly ministry, The Seventy Weeks of Daniel (aka “Daniel’s Timetable”), Paul’s ministry, the book of Revelation, and then, the Lord willing, I’m going to circle back and tie all that together with the pre-tribulation rapture.

Sound like fun? Let’s go....

God promised Abraham that from his seed would come a mighty nation and he would have as many descendants as there are stars in the sky. The deal was that these descendants must obey God and in return God would protect them and give them the land of Israel.

Let’s look at Deuteronomy to see that God chose the Nation of Israel as a people unto Himself:

Deuteronomy 7:6-8

6 For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord thy God has chosen thee to be a special people unto Himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.

7 The Lord did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people:

8 But because the Lord loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the Lord brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

Deuteronomy 14:2

For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God, and the Lord hath chose thee to be a peculiar people unto Himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth.

Let’s also take a moment to look and see that God said His covenant with the Nation of Israel would be an EVERLASTING (Eternal) covenant.

God uses the word EVERLASTING 3 times in Genesis Chapter 17 – verses 7, 13, and 19.

Genesis 17:7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.

Genesis 17:13 He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.

Genesis 17:19 And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him.

And Paul, when referring to the Nation of Israel says:

Romans 11:29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

Now let’s jump forward -

During Christ’s earthly ministry, Jesus was preaching the gospel of the coming Kingdom - the Millennial Kingdom or Messianic Age (Described in Revelation Ch 20) where He (Jesus) would rule and reign for 1,000 years. God’s plan for Israel was for them to be a nation of priests who would evangelize the world:

Isaiah 61:6 “But you will be called the priests of the Lord...”

Exodus 19:6 “and you shall be to Me a Kingdom of priests and a holy nation”

1 Peter 2:9 “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light”

Jesus taught the gospel of the Kingdom which was to BELIEVE and BE BAPTIZED. Believe what?? That He was the Christ, the Messiah. He sent the disciples “to preach the Kingdom of God.”

If the Jews would have accepted him as their Messiah, that would have ushered in the Kingdom Age. However, we know that this didn’t happen because the leaders of Israel had rejected their Messiah and crucified him. They had another 37 or so years after that to believe in their risen Messiah, but they rejected Him again.

**Let’s pause here and talk about Daniel’s Timetable.**

The “Seventy Weeks of Daniel” is a message delivered to Daniel, from God, through the angel Gabriel. The message was a timeline or blueprint (prophecy) for events revolving around Daniel’s people – The Jews – and the city of Jerusalem. Daniel is told that upon completion of the 490 years or 70 weeks, the Messianic Age will begin (Millennial reign of Christ). However, at the end of the 69th week (483 years), before the Messianic Age, the Messiah will be killed or “cut off”, but the 70 weeks are not yet complete. The 70th week of Daniel’s Timetable is a seven-year period which begins with the agreement between the “prince who is to come” (Aka The antichrist) and Israel allowing the Jewish Temple to be rebuilt for the purpose of sacrifice. This 70th week is also written about in Revelation chapters 6-19 and Jeremiah 31. WHY is there a gap between the 69th and 70th week??

Because after the Jews rejected their risen Messiah, God set aside Israel in their unbelief, turned his attention to the Gentiles (Zech. 12:10, 14, Acts 13:46, 18:6, 28:28), and Israel was scattered among the nations. BUT, God would one day regather his “stiff necked” people...

Isaiah 11:11-12 (On the regathering of Israel)

11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.12 And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.

**For other prophecies regarding the regathering, see Jer. 31:38-40, Ezek. 37:11-12, 14, 21-22, 25, Hos. 3:5, Zech. 10:8-10, Lk. 21:24**

Moving along...

When Israel rejected the risen, glorified Christ, joining the Gentiles in rebellion against God and sin had risen to its height and everything was ready, prophetically, for God to begin the outpouring of his wrath upon the wicked world in the Tribulation, God intervened...

Jesus converted Paul on the road to Damascus and then gave him a message by direct revelation which he was to preach to the Gentiles. Let’s look at what Paul says about this revelation: (emphasis mine)

Romans 16:25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the REVELATION OF THE MYSTERY, WHICH WAS KEPT SECRET SINCE THE WORLD BEGAN.

Ephesians 3:1-3 For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles, If ye have heard of the DISPENSATION OF THE GRACE OF GOD WHICH IS GIVEN ME TO YOU-WARD: How that BY REVELATION He made known unto me THE MYSTERY;

Ephesians 3:5-6 WHICH IN OTHER AGES WAS NOT MADE KNOWN UNTO THE SONS OF MEN, AS IT IS NOW REVEALED UNTO HIS HOLY APOSTLES AND PROPHETS BY THE SPIRIT; That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:

Ephesians 3:8-9 Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is the grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; AND TO MAKE ALL MEN SEE WHAT IS THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE MYSTERY, WHICH FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE WORLD HATH BEEN HID IN GOD, who created all things by Jesus Christ.

Galatians 1:11 But I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the REVELATION of Jesus Christ.

Romans 11:25 For I would not, brethren, THAT YE SHOULD BE IGNORANT OF THIS MYSTERY, lest ye be wise in your own conceits; that BLINDNESS IN PART IS HAPPENED TO ISRAEL, UNTIL THE FULLNESS OF THE GENTILES BE COME IN. Jesus spoke of Paul’s apostleship in Acts 9:15 “... Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:

You see, the mystery revealed to Paul was that there would be a “Dispensation of the Grace of God”. God had started a new program, a new dispensation, one that he had not made known before this time - His plan to build a Body of believers from among the Gentiles.

**This is where it’s really important to “rightly divide the Word of truth” as Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 2:15.

The primary division in scripture is not the Old and New Testaments, but between prophecy for Israel and that which was “kept secret since the world began” until revealed through the Apostle Paul (The Church Age). **

Acts 20:24 “But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the GOSPEL OF THE GRACE OF GOD.”

What was the gospel of the grace of God?

We can find this throughout Paul’s letters Romans-Philemon.

1 Corinthians 15:1,3-4 (The Good News) Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;…. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that CHRIST DIED FOR OUR SINS according to the scriptures; and that HE WAS BURIED, and that HE ROSE AGAIN the third day according to the scriptures:

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

2 Timothy 2:8 “Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel.” Titus 3:5 “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Spirit.”

Colossians 2:16 “Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of any holy day, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days.”

Galatians 1:8 “But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.”

Today we do not proclaim the kingdom rights of Christ. Rather we proclaim “redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace” (Eph. 1:7)

Paul was given his message by the RISEN savior and his gospel was to believe in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins. That if we accept we are sinners and believe that Christ died on the cross for our sins, was buried, and that God rose him from the dead, we will be saved.

Why am I making such a big deal of all this Why does it matter

It matters because if one does NOT make a distinction between God’s instructions for the Nation of Israel/Kingdom Program and His instructions for the “Dispensation of the Grace of God” several different things can happen. For example, it is very easy to get confused and fall into works-based doctrines because Israel had to follow the law, they had to observe feasts and the sabbath and on and on. It also impacts where we stand on our “eschatology” or “study of the last things” because we can mix up Paul’s teachings about the rapture with Jesus’ teaching about His Second Coming.

This is just like that little study about food we read in my 2nd post. God has different instructions for us now than he did for the Nation of Israel, because we are in the “Dispensation of the Grace of God.”

This does not mean that we only study Paul’s letters, however, because he says in 2 Timothy 3:16-17:

“All scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.”

We need to study ALL of the scriptures, but we need to study them RIGHTLY DIVIDED as Paul says in 2 Timothy 2:15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, RIGHTLY DIVIDING the word of truth.”

Romans 15:4 “For whatsoever things were written AFORETIME were written FOR OUR LEARNING, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.”

God’s promises to Israel are earthly and material promises:

According to prophecy God's ancient people were to be gathered to their promised land (Ezek. 37:14,21) and exalted above the nations (Isa. 2:1-2) with Messiah as their King (Zeph. 3:15) and through them all nations of the earth were to be blessed. (Zech. 8:13, Mal. 3:12).

The prophets had said nothing about Christ bringing His people to heaven. They had predicted His coming to earth to reign over them.

Whereas, God’s promises to the Church are heavenly promises:

Philippians 3:20 “For our conversation is in heaven....”

Ephesians 3:1 “.... who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.”

Colossians 1:5 “For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel”

Ephesians 2:6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

Are we a covenant people?

No, we are not a covenant people.

Our gentile forefathers were strangers to the covenants of promise according to Ephesians 2:12:

12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world.

By the finished work of the cross, we are joint-heirs with Christ:

Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Romans 8:17 And if children then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

Now let’s get to my favorite part – The Rapture!

What does Paul say about the rapture?

Paul had been talking about the coming Tribulation and in 2 Thessalonians 2: 3 he says:

“Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come (The Tribulation), except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition.”

That word for “falling away” in the Greek is “apostasia” and was always translated as “departure” before the King James Bible changed it to “Falling away.” In fact, the context of the word “apostasia” in this passage meant that it would be a “physical departure.”

Paul again talks about the rapture in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17:

“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”

The word used for “caught up” here is “harpazo” in the Greek which means to be “snatched away by force” “to carry off by force.” In Latin, it is the word “rapturo” which is where we get our English word “Rapture.”

Paul then goes on in 1 Thessalonians 4:18 to say “Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”

(If Paul was telling us that we would go through the Tribulation, would we be able to “comfort one another with those words?”)

He also says in Titus 2:13 that we are “Looking for that BLESSED HOPE, and the GLORIOUS APPEARING of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ.”

Paul is not talking about the 2nd coming of Jesus here. This is an appearing in the clouds where we meet the Lord in the air.

Again in 1 Corinthians 15:52 "In a moment, IN THE TWINKLING OF AN EYE, at the last trump: FOR THE TRUMPET SHALL SOUND, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and WE SHALL BE CHANGED."

Paul also teaches us that we as believers in this dispensation are not appointed to God’s wrath:

1 Thessalonians 5:9 “For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ.” Remember Daniel’s Timetable?

God is a finisher and He’s going to finish his plan and purpose for the Jewish nation! Only 483 years of Daniel’s prophecy have been fulfilled, and they have 7 years left to go...

Israel was regathered and became a nation again on May 14, 1948 and that started up the prophetic clock. We’re the “Fig Tree Generation” the “Generation that will not pass” who has seen Israel become a nation again:

Matthew 24:32-34 Now learn a parable of the fig tree (Israel); When his branch is yet tender, and puts forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh. So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the door. Verily I say unto you, this GENERATION SHALL NOT PASS, till all these things be fulfilled.

Let’s pop over to the book of Revelation now and see where that fits into all this. Revelation comes from the Greek text: apokalypsis, meaning “unveiling.” John the Apostle was told to write down what he saw in his visions: Revelation 1:19 “Write the things which thou has seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter.”

Chapter 1 – Past – John was an eyewitness to the crucifixion of Christ

Chapters 2 and 3 – Present Church Age/7 letters to 7 churches (We are in Chapter 3)

Chapter 4 ---> All Future Events from this point on

Chapters 6-19 -- Horrors and Judgements of the Tribulation

Chapter 20 The Millennium

Chapters 21 & 22 – New Heaven and a New Earth

The Greek word used for the “Church” or “The Body of Christ” is “ekklesia.”

In the book of Revelation, this word is used 20 times.

It is used 19 times in Revelation 1-3 and then not used again until Chapter 22.

What happened after Chapter 3??

Well, let’s see:

Revelation 4:1-2 “After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, COME UP HITHER, AND I WILL SHEW THEE THINGS WHICH MUST BE HEREAFTER.” And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.” In this verse, John is describing how he was taken up to heaven (COME UP HITHER) at the sound of a trumpet - “AND I WILL SHEW THEE THINGS WHICH MUST BE HEREAFTER.”

Let’s compare this with Paul’s description of the rapture in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17: “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first (Believers who have died): Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”

DO YOU SEE IT???!! John is called up to heaven in verse 4:1 – COME UP HITHER at the sound of a trumpet and the Church is RAPTURED at the sound of a trumpet and the Church is not mentioned again during The Tribulation. Revelation 4:1 is a picture of the rapture of the church!!!

Those who are saved during the Tribulation are referred to as “Tribulation Saints” and they have to die for their faith. The Bride of Christ is seated *on* the throne and the Tribulation Saints are serving *at* the throne.

Isn’t it AMAZING how all the pieces fit together perfectly??!! I get so excited about it!!

First, Christ comes FOR his Bride, then at the end of the Tribulation he comes WITH his Bride at the Battle of Armageddon.

I’ll get to my point and wrap this up now.

It is my hope that I was able to demonstrate how the point of the Tribulation is not for the Church. It is the time of Jacob’s Trouble to save the Jewish Nation and turn them back to God. The Church has not replaced Israel because God’s covenant with Israel is EVERLASTING.

This dispensation will come to an end and God will again turn his focus to the Nation of Israel for the final 70th week of Daniel’s prophecy. Remember that Paul said in Romans 11:25 “That blindness in part is happened to Israel, until THE FULLNESS OF THE GENTILES be come in.”

Whenever the last Gentile believer is saved, this dispensation will be over. God is going to remove the Church from this world because we are in the way! The restrainer has to be removed!

When will this happen??

1 Thessalonians 5:4 “But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.”

Paul is saying here that we will know the “season” of the rapture. That when we begin to see the things spoken about that we would know that the time is near.

In Matthew 24, Jesus tells the disciples what it would be like right before his 2nd coming (NOT the rapture, the “dispensation of the grace of God” had not been revealed yet, it was HID IN GOD until revealed to Paul. The disciples didn’t know about the rapture.)

We also see old testament pictures of the rapture such as Enoch and the Flood. Enoch was “taken” or “raptured” by God (A picture of the church) and Noah’s family was protected in the ark (A picture of how God will protect Israel in Petra during the last 3.5 years of the Tribulation). The Jewish wedding is also a picture of the rapture.

So where are we NOW??

Israel has been reborn as a nation as prophesied and as of the time I write this, it has been 72 years, 1 month, and 7 days since that rebirth. The prophetic clock is ticking...

Are we seeing foreshadowing of the things to come in Daniel’s 70th week?

I think we are.

I pray this post reaches you all well and that you are blessed by it!

I pray that you will all have a renewed sense of joy for studying your Bible and that God will reveal to you the perfect plan written in His word.

Please let me know your thoughts in the comments section!

Until next time.

“Looking unto Jesus the AUTHOR and FINISHER of our faith...” Hebrews 12:2

Possible other topics for discussion:

1) WHY is the rapture under attack? Why would Satan want to take away our "Blessed Hope?"

2) Covenant Theology - Where do they get their covenants and why do they interpret scripture and past prophecies literally and historically, but then they switch to a spiritual/allegorical approach when it comes to future prophecies leaving them with an ammillennial view of future prophecy??

Ammillennial = There will be no millenial reign of Christ.

3) What is Kingdom Now/Dominionism?

4) What is PRETERISM?
